Goat Man Story

July 23, 2012

Hi Everyone,

In a week of bad news hears an article in the Deseret News that is pretty interesting. http://www.deseretnews.com/article/765591096/Goat-man-spotted-in-mountains-of-northern-Utah.html I can't really explain it. I just hope he is having a great time.

internet education

I don't know if you've all been following it, but there have been amazing developments in online education in the past years. Most of the top US universities offer a bunch of classes online for absolutely free. Very cool, in my opinion.

Here are some of them:

https://www.coursera.org/ - consortium of a bunch of top universities, a variety of classes
http://www.udacity.com/ - stanford spin-off, mainly computer science
http://ocw.mit.edu/index.htm - MIT's free courses, the first such offered and by far the most courses available

I'm doing this one at the moment https://www.coursera.org/course/introfinance , plus a bunch of Udacity courses, although we will see if I actually finish any of them :)

Some photos

Here's some photos of Warsaw from the recent visit of our friend Tim from Australia.

 The roof of the Library.

Waiting for the ferry, a little skeptical that it really stops 100 yards from the water ...
On the ferry, having more fun that it seems from this picture

Kebab and Pho all in one... sounds a little soggy
Deliciousness at a trendy new ice cream place

Happy Birthday Alex!

Happy Birthday Alex! Tomorrow is the big day.I do believe he's twenty-five years old tomorrow. He and Brynna should be back from the river trip in Laos. I wonder if Thailand is having a heat wave this year? The U.S. is melting. Danny and Jenni are going to Vancouver for the next two weeks off and on. We are going to break into 101-103 degrees in the next few days. I could use some Vancouver weather. It was cold last summer!

I go to girls' camp next week, get back, recover, then seriously get ready to go to the wedding in Europe. It's coming! We are excited to see you all. It's been too long. Did we tell you we saw Les Miz at the Shakespeare Festival on the 4th of July? It was wonderful. Now we want to see Titus Andronicus. Apparently it's a bloody play. When else would we see it? Most of all we want to see all of you. Travis was able to reenter Poland with a renewed visa. Travelling to the Ukraine worked, although there were no guarantees.

Dad gets his cast off on Monday. One week from today. Don't expect miracles, but it will be nice to begin to walk.

Happy Birthday Alex. We miss you and look forward to seeing you and Brynna and hearing about your adventures this summer. It will be nice to all stay in the apartment in Krakow and talk. I think the temperatures got hotter in Poland.

Happy Birthday Laurel!

Today is Laurel's 4th birthday.  We are looking forward to a picnic at Liberty Park tonight to celebrate.  And a trip to the Aviary first.  Dawn is taking the girls to Red Butte Gardens this morning.  We try to do all we can in the mornings.  The afternoons are so hot!  Happy Birthday to Laurel.  We love you!
